Lady Vols jump a Hurdle

"Angie Bjorklund called it "just one of those days" and shrugged her shoulders, but the Tennessee teammates she'd just finished rescuing knew differently."Every time we need a tough shot, Angie was there to knock it down," said Alyssia Brewer after Bjorklund matched her career high with 29 points and hit two huge 3-pointers.That helped No. 11 11 Tennessee get back to its winning ways Thursday night by beating Old Dominion 81-76.Tennessee (8-2), coming off a 73-59 loss at Texas that knocked it out of the Top 10 after a record 211 consecutive weeks there, won for the 13th straight time in the series between two of the schools that first brought women's college basketball to prominence.
And even if she didn't want to say it, Bjorklund was the reason why, scoring 20 points in the second half as the Lady Monarchs pulled ahead several times thinking 'upset." (Tennessean)

Well, our "Baby Vols" may have pushed over a new hurdle. They won a close game on the road against ODU. Now for a big test at home. Sunday evening my phone will be off, the door will be blocked and I will be ready to watch a "rematch" of the UT Lady Vols vs Stanford match up. I don't know why the media insists on calling it a re-match. Wiggins is gone from Stanford and all five of our starters are graduates now and gone. We still have A-Force, Baugh, and Angie B, but this is no re-match. This is a young team who will come out of the gate trying to prove something to the home fans. I just hope they calm down quickly and don't get too far behind. I believe if we can keep this game close we can win. Thankfully the injuries inflicted upon us against ODU were not too serious. Strickland is feeling better and things will be more comfortable since we are at home. If Angie B can keep hitting that outside shot (29 points against ODU - she was insane) it will open up the post for us. Go Lady Vols. I will be watching as always.
