Lady Vols Suprised by Virginia

11-21? Are you serious?  No one can win on the road with only 11-21 free throws.  Tennessee Lady Vols get beat by 5 points in overtime to Virginia and they left 10 points at the free throw line.  I can understand the 5-24  from the three point line, I mean, Virginia's match up zone was smothering and our wings rushed their shots. Instead of taking our shots we took the shots Virginia wanted to give us.  The next dismal stat is 24 turnovers.  Nope, the game was just not going to go our way with the way the Ladies played today.

Several weeks ago when everyone learned that Coach Summit was suffering from early onset dementia ("Alzheimer's Type"), the team said they would dedicate themselves to winning a National Championship for Coach this year.  They said that they wanted to show her how much her leadership has meant to them and they wanted to win it all.  All I have to say, and anyone who knows me knows no other sport means more to me than Lady Vols's Basketball, is that if this is the way they are going to play all season then we are in trouble and they won't win that National Championship for Coach Summitt or anyone else.  If this team doesn't get to the final four this year they will be the first class in the history of UT women's basketball that has not made at least one trip to the final four under Coach Summitt's leadership.

I realize this is just the third game of the season, but I hope this loss to an unranked team is a wake-up call for these talented women.  We have 8, count them, 8 all Americans sitting on that bench. It is time to step up ladies.  It doesn't get any easier... Next up Baylor Bears and 6' 8" Brit. Griner.  Oh Boy...!
